Benches in the Bedroom and My Favorite High-Low Pick

Benches in the Bedroom and My Favorite High-Low Pick

Lately I’ve become slightly obsessed with “refreshing” my master bedroom (much to the dismay of my husband).  I’ve been perusing bedrooms and out of nowhere I suddenly started noticing that truly luxurious, serene, enveloping bedrooms often have benches perched at the end of the bed.

Like, a lot of them.  Have you noticed it too?

I don’t know why this is exactly, except I will say that it really rounds out the room nicely and adds a special touch.

So that’s it.  I’ve decided that a bench at the end of our bed is happening.   I’ve long been drawn to the strong, polished lines of Jonathan Adler’s Whitaker bench:   jonathan adler whitaker benchJonathan Adler’s Whitaker Bench, $1,400

But at $1,400 it’s just not going to happen for us.  Imagine my excitement when I spotted its near doppelganger, the Tamblin Bench:

You guys, it’s $152!!  It is definitely coming home to live at the foot of my bed.  I seriously think it’s the best high-low score I’ve ever seen.

Brian is obsessed with having a bench at the end of our bed too, but he wants it to have room for storage inside it. I am obsessed with your blog, because you are awesome.

It’s decided — we’re so getting a bench. 🙂 We’re moving in less than 2 weeks, I need to go back through all of your posts for design ideas!

Yes!! I’ve always loved benches at the end of beds (my grandmother had one, so I noticed it early)..and never knew if that was stylistically acceptable or not (you know my none design brain!!) – glad to know it is!
