How I Made my Easy DIY Headboard

How I Made my Easy DIY Headboard

Here’s a sentence you might be surprised to read:  One of the easiest DIY projects you can do in your home is an upholstered headboard.

You may think I’m crazy but it’s true.  Granted, it DOES take some effort (because you have to actually GO to a hardware store and pick out a sheet of wood, and you actually have to FIND a friend who owns a staple gun, or buy one yourself), but beyond that it’s seriously one of the easiest projects I’ve done in my home.

Here’s the one I made, in all its glory:

I published all the juicy details recently on Martha Stewart as one of their new official contributors (yes!  I’m so honored!).

Before I direct you to this tutorial, I just want to say my big takeaway was that I had my heart set on this fancy shape for my daughter’s pink and green preppy princess room….

But if you really are after an “easy” DIY project, then I recommend you stick to a plain old rectangle.  Why?  Because then you need NO saw, NO tracing shapes onto wood.  All you do is buy a piece of wood at the hardware store and throw some batting and fabric over it.  You’ve cut your project time in half!

Okay, I’ll get off my soap box.  This really was a fun project and I’m so happy to share it with you.  Read the fun tutorial on Martha Stewart here!
