The Midas Touch: 6 Unexpected Uses for Gold Spraypaint

The Midas Touch: 6 Unexpected Uses for Gold Spraypaint

Don’t even get me started on the many virtues of GOLD spraypaint.  It’s the “affordable decor” gift that keeps on giving.

Here are a few fun uses I’ve found over the years.  All you need is a few bucks and a bit of courage…

1.  Transform Your Accessories

This is my all-time favorite – I just took two inexpensive metal orbs (one was from a flea market and one was from the clearance aisle at Target), and I took ten minutes out of my life to spraypaint them gold.

It was a serious transformation. The entire ROOM looked different!  lorri accessories

(You can see me transforming this and other accessories here).  This just goes to show that you can take nearly any decorative object and POW! make it amazing by just using a bit of spraypaint.

2. Create Amazing Art.

When I first saw this picture in Elle Decor a few years back, I may have cried a little I was so inspired.  This is a BUNCH OF PLASTIC LEAVES, basically spraypainted gold and stapled together.  The genius!  The imagination!  I’m starting to get emotional again so I think I’d better move on…

3.  Create cool storage.

This brilliant DIY is from the blog Land of Nams. She took regular mason jars, a bunch of cheap plastic toy animals, and spraypainted the tops (and the animals) gold.  Sublime.

4. Create Bookends.

It seriously doesn’t get easier than this.  Take some rocks and hit them with a bit of spraypaint.  The result? Design genius.

5. Create a stunning centerpiece.

This is one of my all-time favorite decorating hacks and I’ve been doing it for years.  Here are your instructions:  Go on a walk.  Find a stick and bring it home.  Spraypaint it gold (or White!  It also works great with white).  Put it on your table.  Ta-da!
